The NHL announced the 31 team nominees for the King Clancy Memorial Trophy Wednesday. Among the candidates is Arizona Coyotes defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson.
The King Clancy Memorial Trophy is awarded to the player who best represents leadership on and off the ice. The winner will receive a $40,000 donation to the charities of his choice and the two runner-ups will also receive $5,000 donations to their charities of choice as well.
Ekman-Larsson has visited the Boys & Girls Club in the past and also commonly donates his tickets in his suite to various charities such as the Wounded Warrior Project and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
This season, the defenseman from Sweden has scored 14 goals and dished out 28 assists for the Coyotes.
The finalists will be announced Monday, April 30, but the winner will be announced June 20 during the 2018 NHL Awards.
