Report: Pietrus trade to Toronto called off

Dec 10, 2011, 10:09 PM | Updated: 10:27 pm

Swingman Mickael Pietrus was back before he left.

According to Paul Coro, Pietrus was to head to Toronto for a conditional second-round pick, but he was found to have a small knee injury that still needs a few weeks of treatment.

[Pietrus’ agent Bill] McCandless said the trade has been “postponed” and that Pietrus did not fail his Friday physical exam. Toronto will likely move another direction to fill the roster slot.

The injury was found when Raptors medical staff flagged something in an MRI of Pietrus’ right knee, which he had surgery on prior to the end of last season. The surgery caused him to miss the final 12 games.

Pietrus will return to Phoenix to get back in game shape and work on rehabilitating his knee, McCandless said.
