Frye on the mark in Suns win over Milwaukee

Jan 9, 2012, 2:52 PM | Updated: 2:55 pm

In his first four full seasons in the NBA, Channing Frye
made a total of 20 three-point shots.

So it came as a bit of a surprise when Frye landed in
Phoenix, and immediately became one of the league’s
premier long-distance shooters. Frye made 374 three-
pointers from 2009 to 2011, the 2nd-highest total in the
league in that span.

So it also came as a surprise when the 6-foot-11
sharpshooter from the University of Arizona struggled out
of the gates this season in the shooting department. Frye
had connected on just 4 of 23 three-pointers in the Suns’
first seven games.

He doubled his make total in one night.

Frye hit all four of his attempts from behind the
arc and
scored a season-high 16 points in Sunday’s 109-93 win over
the Milwaukee Bucks at U.S. Airways Center.

“I think everybody made a bigger deal out of it
than I
did,” Frye said Sunday about his recent shooting woes. “I
was just more upset that the games we lost, I couldn’t
help contribute.”

Frye may not have shown too much anxiety over his shooting
percentage, but his teammates sure were glad to have
number 8 firing on all cylinders again.
