D-backs bullpen cart finally carries a player for the first time this season

May 5, 2018, 7:59 PM

Houston Astros relief pitcher Collin McHugh became the first player to enjoy a ride in the new bullpen cart this regular season.

The Arizona Diamondbacks introduced the bullpen cart this year but until Saturday, the cart was only used to transport jackets from the bullpen to the dugout.

But that’s all changed now!

The cart had been used by players in the final games of spring training that were played at Chase Field, but the novelty seemed to have faded away when the regular season started.

From the looks of the video, the cart stayed on the warning track dirt dropping the pitcher off at his own team’s dugout.

The ride cut down the distance for McHugh to carry himself to the mound, but still left enough distance to get in a light jog.

We are still waiting on pins and needles for the first Diamondbacks pitcher to make use of the transportation.
