The Arizona Coyotes signed center David Ullstrom to a one-year, two-way contract on Tuesday, the team announced.
“David is a big, strong center who is an excellent skater,” Coyotes general manager John Chayka said in a team release. “He has previous NHL experience and will provide us with additional depth at the center position.”
At 6-foot-2 and 198 pounds, Ullstrom registered 6-24-30 with 26 penalty minutes for HV71 of the Swedish Hockey League last season.
The 29-year-old Ullstrom was a fourth-round draft pick by the New York Islanders in 2008 and appeared for the NHL club in 49 games from 2011-13, scoring six goals to go with seven assists.
Born in Jonkoping, Sweden, Ullstrom left the NHL for the Kontinental Hockey League in Russia and a few surrounding countries before spending the past two years in Sweden.
