Suns rookie Markieff Morris has been a pleasant surprise
this season, averaging 7.2 points and five rebounds per
game.
The 13th pick in the draft out of Kansas, Morris was
selected as one of nine rookies to play in the NBA’s Rising
Stars Game on All-Star weekend.
Morris becomes the seventh player in franchise history to
participate in the event, which used to pit the league’s
best rookies against the top second-year players.
This year, however, the players will be selected to their
respective teams by captains Charles Barkley and Shaquille
O’Neal.
Cleveland’s Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson, Minnesota’s
Ricky Rubio and Derrick Williams, New Jersey’s MarShon
Brooks, Detroit’s Brandon Knight, San Antonio’s Kawhi
Leonard and Charlotte’s Kemba Walker are the other rookies
who will be joining Morris in Orlando.
The game will take place on Friday, February 24.
