The Arizona Diamondbacks announced Friday they had reinstated infielder Jake Lamb and pitcher Braden Shipley from the 10-day disabled list and optioned Shipley and infielder Christian Walker to Triple-A.

Lamb, 27, had appeared in only four games this season before hitting the DL on April 3 with a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder. The third-baseman was an All-Star for the first time in 2017, hitting .248 with 30 home runs and 105 RBI.

His return is likely a welcome one for the D-backs, who have struggled on offense and have the worst team batting average in all of baseball entering Friday at just .220. A recent injury to A.J. Pollock (who was hitting .293 with 11 home runs and 33 RBI) and an ongoing slump for Paul Goldschmidt (.208, 4 HR, 55 SO) haven’t helped matters in that regard.

Shipley’s return adds some depth for the D-backs, who have had to piece-together their options for starting pitching as they’ve been hit with injuries to Robbie Ray (oblique) and Taijuan Walker (Tommy John).

He heads to Reno along with Walker, who has hit .125 (2-for-16) with one home run in 16 games for the D-backs this year.

Arizona plays Friday afternoon at Citi Field where they’ll begin a series against the Mets. You can hear that game at 4:10 p.m. on ESPN 620 AM.
