No Nash deal: Suns expect a quiet trade deadline

Mar 14, 2012, 10:33 PM | Updated: 11:53 pm

The NBA’s trade deadline is Thursday at 12:00 p.m. Arizona
time, and while the Phoenix Suns have been the subject of
rumors for the last couple of months, chances are they
won’t be making a move.

Suns President of Basketball Operations Lon Babby, as a
guest on Arizona Sports 620’s Doug and Wolf Wednesday,
said that does not mean the team hasn’t been working the
phones.

“Just to make sure that we’ve left no stone unturned,” he
said. “If you’re asking me for a prediction I’d say
there’s nothing even remotely close to doing right now.

“So it would have to be something that kind of fell out of
the sky in the final 12, 24 hours.”

That news may come as a disappointment to some fans, who
are hoping to see the team “blow it up,” though the team’s
solid play since the All-Star break has made that a less
enticing option.

Instead the Suns, who are currently 12th in the Western
Conference, will likely stand pat, finishing the season
with what they have right now.
