For only the second time this season — and second time
this month– the Suns are a winning basketball team.
After back-to-back losses to Miami and Orlando on
consecutive days, the Suns rebounded with wins at Indiana
and at Cleveland to earn a split of their four-game road
trip.
The Suns (25-24) sit 10th in the Western Conference, but
are just a game back of 8th-place Houston (26-23). They
are only two-and-a-half games away from being the fourth-
best team in the conference, a distinction currently held
by the L.A. Clippers (27-21).
The Suns are 11-4 since the All-Star break.
Head coach Alvin Gentry gave his players the day off
Monday.
Tuesday, the Suns will host second-seed San Antonio (33-
14), winners of four straight. They have not met one
another since January 15, when the Spurs handed the Suns a
102-91 defeat at AT&T Center behind Tim Duncan’s 24 points
and 11 rebounds.
The Suns and Spurs will meet three times in the season’s
final 29 days, including twice in the final 11 days.
Former Sun Boris Diaw is averaging 2 points, 4 rebounds
and 1.3 assists in 17.7 minutes coming off the bench for
San Antonio. He joined the Spurs three games ago after
Charlotte bought out his contract, allowing him to sign
with any NBA team.
