Steve Nash has already achieved greatness, but he still has
room to add more recognition.
Nash, who passed Kevin Johnson Feb. 1 as the Suns’ all-time
leader in career assists, needs 10 more to move into fifth
place on the NBA’s all-time list. The two-time MVP, who is
averaging 10.8 assists per game this season, will have a
chance to achieve the mark Thursday against the Los Angeles
Clippers.
Upon passing Robertson’s 9,887 assists, Nash will trail only
John Stockton (15,806), Jason Kidd (11,838), Mark Jackson
(10,323), and Magic Johnson (10,141).
The 38-year-old Nash also holds franchise records for three-
pointers made and attempted, as well as three-point and free
throw shooting percentages.
Nash is averaging 12.6 points per game this season, shooting
a stellar .534 from the field, .434 from the three and .894
from the free throw line.
