If there are still naysayers about Paul Goldschmidt’s hitting slump being a thing of the past, he made a compelling case Saturday against the Rockies.

Goldschmidt had two home runs, a single and four RBI as the D-backs clinched the series against the Colorado Rockies with a 12-7 win.

It was the first baseman’s first time in his career recording multiple homers in back-to-back games, and set a D-backs record for his fourth straight game with three or more hits.

Goldschmidt got started early against Colorado starter Chad Bettis. On just his second pitch, Goldschmidt blasted a 450-foot solo home run to center field, giving the D-backs the early lead.

Later in the fourth, Goldschmidt hit his second home run of the day, a three-run moon shot to left field which allowed the D-backs to regain the lead.

The two-homer performance followed his performance on Friday, in which he recorded two home runs, a double and three RBI.

Goldschmidt’s hot streak is a welcoming sight for D-backs fans, as the first baseman averaged just .198 with five home runs and 13 RBI through the first 48 games of the season.

Coming into Saturday’s contest, Goldschmidt was averaging .385 with five homers and 12 RBI in his last 13 games.

He wasn’t the only big bat for the D-backs Saturday.

D-backs infielder Nick Ahmed added a solo homer of his own in the second inning, giving Arizona its sixth multi-homer game in the club’s last 11 games.

A six-run eighth inning for Arizona allowed the D-backs to jump out to a five-run lead, which they never relinquished.
