Coyotes to donate 10,000 tickets to youth players, organizations

The Arizona Coyotes announced Monday they will honor the state’s youth hockey players and community as part of a promotional night in September.

Over 10,000 tickets will be donated to youth players, as well as numerous charitable groups and foundations across the Valley.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Arizona, the Valley of the Sun YMCA, Boys & Girls Club of Metro Phoenix, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona, Boys Hope Girls Hope of Arizona, and the Phoenix Salvation Army will receive free tickets to the Coyotes’ matchup with the Los Angeles Kings on September 18 at Gila River Arena.

In addition, tickets will also be distributed at Luke Air Force Base in the West Valley.

“The Coyotes are committed to Arizona, committed to positively impacting our community, and committed to growing the great game of hockey in the state,” Andrew Barroway, the Coyotes owner, chairman and governor, said in a release. “We’re looking forward to having so many local youth hockey players, community heroes and service people attend our game on September 18.

“We appreciate everything that they do to serve and impact our community, our country and our state. We hope that they enjoy the game.”

The Arizona Coyotes Foundation has a history of giving back to the community.

Last year, the foundation donated $1.2 million into various foundations, including a $250,000 contribution to the Phoenix Children’s Hospital wing for Cancer and Blood Disorders.

The Coyotes have made it a goal to grow Arizona’s youth hockey community since the team arrived in 1996. The state has seen one of the highest participation growth rates in the country, raising nearly 10 percent in the last five years.
