Jon Jay steals an out for D-backs with slide into wall vs. Marlins

Starting pitcher Zack Greinke was rolling, and the Arizona Diamondbacks already held a 3-0 lead Thursday in the bottom of the third inning when things could’ve gotten away from them.
Miami Marlins infielder Derek Dietrich reached first with one out thanks to a bobbled grounder by D-backs second baseman Daniel Descalso.
Then came infielder Brian Anderson, who popped up into foul territory along the first base line.
Arizona right fielder Jon Jay used all the speed and all the space left for him to make a sliding grab, putting the brakes on just enough so he didn’t go head-first into the wall.
The out advanced Dietrich to second as he tagged up but proved key for the D-backs — especially after the error on Descalso.
Miami’s Justin Bour next singled to put runners on the corners before Greinke managed to induce a groundout to Starlin Castro, getting the D-backs out of the third inning unscathed.
