Cardinals defense not taking Ravens offense lightly

Oct 28, 2011, 8:04 PM | Updated: 10:49 pm

Don’t worry if you missed Monday night’s matchup featuring
the Ravens and Jaguars because, well, you didn’t miss
much.

Simply put, the game wasn’t exactly a gridiron classic.

The contest featured one touchdown, four field goals and a
final score of 12-7 in favor of the Jaguars.

The Ravens offense looked dismal Monday night, finishing
with a total of 146 yards and only 11 first downs.

Baltimore’s offense could be the break the Cardinals
defense needs to boost their morale, but players aren’t
taking the Ravens lightly after the team’s bad offensive
performance.

“They definitely have the ability to score 40 points in a
game,” defensive end Calais Campbell said. “Sometimes it
won’t work out the way it’s supposed to but they’re a good
team; I’m not going to underestimate them at all hopefully
we can do what Jacksonville did to them.”

However, the game did highlight some weak spots the
Cardinals defense will look to take advantage of.

“It showed us some errors that they made,” cornerback AJ
Jefferson said. “Some things we could probably do is get
some turnovers and strips; they’re probably going to be
stressed about that, but other than that we’re just going
to try and play good football.”

In four wins this season the Ravens average about 402
yards and 34 points per game, but only average 10 points
and 187 yards in the team’s two losses.

Campbell knows the game will be a challenge no matter
which Ravens team shows up.

“They’re a good team,” Campbell said. “They have probably
the best O-line were going against so far, they run the
ball very well, the quarterback makes some deep throws,
they have a nice deep threat. So it’s going to be a tough
game; we are going to have our hands full, but if we can
tackle well and be in the right place we can give
ourselves a chance.”
