Cardinals prepare for Baltimore’s passing attack

Cardinals fans should be familiar with one of the Ravens
top two receivers, but one they may not know could pose
just as much of a challenge.

Anquan Boldin — the receiver fans should know — and
Torrey Smith are the Ravens’ top two targets this season.

Each play a different style that could potentially cause
problems for the Cardinals secondary.

Cornerback AJ Jefferson says Smith uses his speed while
Boldin will play a more physical style of game. The
gameplan to prevent the receivers from running free is to
jam them at the line.

“For me I just don’t want to give them any space to make
moves on me so I’ll be at the line putting my hands on
them and running with them hopefully,” Jefferson said.

In order to prepare for the speedy Smith and physical
Boldin, Jefferson has been practicing against someone that
is both fast and physical: Cardinals wide receiver Larry
Fitzgerald.

“Larry is one of the best wide receivers,” Jefferson said.
“He’s a big body receiver and he likes to use his hands
and get away with illegal stuff sometimes so that always
prepares you for the game.”

While Boldin and Smith are the focus down the field, they
might not even be the Ravens biggest threat. Running back
Ray Rice has 337 yards receiving this season, which is
more than Smith and only 57 short of Boldin’s 390.

The defense seems to looking forward to facing former
teammate Boldin for the first time.

“It’ll be good to see him, talk to him a little bit, he’s
a trash talker and competitor,” defensive end Calais
Campbell said. “He’s going to come out with his A game
just because he’s playing his old team. He’s a guy I love
playing with but it’ll be fun to play against him.”
