October 7, 2012: Frye makes appearance on final day of training camp

LA JOLLA, Calif. — Among those in attendance at the intrasquad scrimmage Saturday was Channing Frye.

It marked the first time he had been around the team since the club arrived in town for training camp.

Two weeks prior, the Suns announced Frye would be sidelined indefinitely with dilated cardiomyopathy, an enlarged heart, that was discovered during a routine preseason physcial.

“I’m still a part of the team so I’ve got to come support…(and) be a fan like everybody else,” he said during halftime.

“It’s important for me to be here during stuff like this; but going to practice (for) two, three hours, that’s not too important. For me, it’s just—I’ll probably come to most home games, see if I can’t do some talking on the radio or on TV.”

Okay then, how about we give you your big break right now?

Here is Frye’s expert analysis of the first half:

“I think right now, we’re still trying to get our spacing right,” he said. “I think our spacing needs to get a little bit better but I think there are guys playing well.

“Jared (Dudley) has been playing overall the best. (Luis) Scola has been playing great. Sebastian (Telfair) has been doing a good job of getting to the hole and creating things, some opportunities for other people. Kendall (Marshall) has been, really just being a rookie. He has a flash of good, a flash of bad.

“I think everybody has been playing pretty solid,” Frye continued.

“For us, we still need to continue to push the ball. We’ve been posting it up more than I’ve seen in the past. I think we’re being a little bit more physical. I think we can be a little bit more physical, but I think defensively we’re doing all right.”

Hmmm.

The Suns may want to consider a three-man announcing team this year.
