The matchup between Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods is always one to watch during big tournaments, but now the two have raised the stakes even more.
According to Golf.com’s Alan Shipnuck, the two PGA golfers are planning a head-to-head matchup, with $10 million on the line.
Yes, you read that right.
The Arizona State alum and arguably one of the most famous golfers in the world are challenging each other for $10 million, with the winner taking home the huge lump sum.
The two are working on making the matchup a nationally televised event, but no exact details have been set as to where or when it will take place.
“We’re working on a different date,” Mickelson told Golf.com on Thursday. “I thought it was done for the 3rd but obviously it wasn’t.”
Regardless of the details, Twitter users have already reacted to what could potentially be an epic battle.
Tiger vs. Phil for $10 Million in 2018 is like Mayweather vs. Pacquiao in 2015: A great match-up — 10 years too late…That being said, I'd totally watch it.

Tiger and Phil should break all kinds of golf's rules in their match. Talk smack. Walk over each other's putting lines. Be shadow monsters. Give each other unsolicited advice. Talk to the other guy's shot in the air.

Maybe one of the rules will be to let the ball come to a complete stop before hitting it again.
But where’s the fun in that?
