Sure, you could read the box score and know who won, but we all know that won’t tell you everything that happened in a basketball game. So, we will give you Suns Spots providing you with the analysis, quotes and notes from the Suns’ 88-72 win over the Denver Nuggets on October 26.
Final Score: Suns 88, Nuggets 72
The Story:
Michael Beasley had over a third of the team’s points, as the new member of the Suns had 29 points on 13-for-21 field goals and 10 rebounds in just 33 minutes of action. The Suns overcame the superior interior size of the Nuggets as well as a late charge by Denver to win this low scoring contest.
The Good:
Outside of Beasley’s night, there was not too much good that came from the Suns. However, Goran Dragic had a pretty nice night in 25 minutes, scoring 13 points and adding six assists.
Phoenix held Denver to just 36.5% shooting from the field. They also forced 27 turnovers and scored 29 points off of the miscues of the visiting team.
The Bad:
The Suns were absolutely dominated on the interior of the court by the Nuggets. So much so that Denver’s points in the paint (54) were almost double that of Phoenix (28).
He Said it:
“I was just trying to be aggressive, coach has been telling me all preseason to be aggressive and be kind of selfish in taking my shots,” Michael Beasley said.
Noted:
The Nuggets didn’t use two of their best players, Andre Iguodala and Danillo Gallinari. Iguodala is the team’s best defender and arguably one of the best defenders in the NBA. He would have been covering Beasley if he had played, which could have resulted in a different outcome.
