Double-A baseball team to wear Scrabble-inspired jerseys
Scrabble has been a popular American board game for many years. Having recently been supplanted by the digital Words With Friends, a certain minor league baseball team is trying to bring some notoriety back to the original game.
The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, the Double-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins, are offering a Scrabble-themed game to celebrate the 70-year anniversary of the game’s introduction on July 15.
As part of the promotion, the Jumbo Shrimp will be wearing special scrabble inspired uniforms that are … interesting to put it nicely.

The team is pulling out all the stops for the event. 2017 North American Scrabble champion Will Anderson will be in attendance to throw out the first pitch and compete against 30 other fans at Scrabble as the team seeks to break the world record for most simultaneous games played at the same time.
The first 1,000 fans at the game will receive eight-point Jumbo Shrimp tiles.
The team will be auctioning off the jerseys after the game.
Stay weird minor league baseball.
