Javonte Green turns into human highlight reel in Suns’ win over Spurs

The Phoenix Summer Suns were playing for pride Friday after being knocked out of the Summer League Tournament the night before.

That didn’t stop Javonte Green from turning the game against the San Antonio Spurs into his personal highlight tape.

Dropping 20 points — on 8-of-11 shooting — five rebounds and two steals in 21 minutes, Green led the way for the Summer Suns as they cruised over the Spurs, 90-55.

And as good as his stat line was, his highlights added an exclamation mark to his performance.

With time winding down in the first half, Green saw a lane open up down the court and was able to get off a deep 3-pointer.

At that point, the Suns closed out the half with a 42-22 lead over the Spurs.

Both Green and teammate Alec Peters had yet to miss a shot.

Then the fourth quarter came around.

Utilizing a pick-and-roll, Green was able to shed his defender and rock the rim with an alley-oop.

But what’s better than one monstrous dunk to close out a blowout game? Two.

Turning one of his two steals into an automatic two points, Green pickpocketed his man before taking it down the other end for one last slam.

It was an overall solid showing from the Summer Suns in their last game in Las Vegas.

Peters added 17 points and four rebounds, while guard Shaquille Harrison continued his solid summer play with 13 points, six rebounds, seven assists, three blocks and one steal.

Jack Cooley was one rebound away from a double-double (10 points, nine rebounds), but did get his name in the record books, tying a Summer League record with 32 games played.
