Phoenix Mercury’s Taurasi, Griner, Bonner earn 2018 All-Star nods

The Phoenix Mercury will have three players representing their team in the 2018 WNBA All-Star Game on July 28.
Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner and DeWanna Bonner all made the team. This marks the fourth time in franchise history the Mercury has had a trio of players make the All-Star Game in the same season.
Taurasi has only been eligible to make the All-Star team nine times, but this now makes it the ninth straight time she has made the team in those instances. Seen as the greatest women’s basketball player of all time, Taurasi is sixth in the league in both scoring and assists. Taurasi is the only player in WNBA history to average at least 20 points per game at the age of 36 or older.
Griner also joins Taurasi as making the All-Star team every year she was eligible, with 2018 marking her fifth year. Griner leads the league in blocks per game and is in the top 10 for scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage.
Bonner has been named an All-Star after sitting out the 2017 season due to her giving birth to twins. She is averaging 15.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.3 steals per game this season.
The Mercury’s coaching staff will also be there, as they have clinched one of the two best records in the league.
