The hype surrounding Arizona State junior receiver N’Keal Harry has been building with every new preseason award watch list he appears on.
With the hype and attention comes more scrutiny. But Harry told AZ Preps Live’s Kevin McCabe on 98.7 Arizona’s Sports Station he is embracing the expectations.
“There’s probably a lot more people watching me right now so I have to be extremely careful with what I do and I’m trying to be the best role model for all the high school kids and all the youth coming up,” Harry said.
Harry has made preseason watch lists for the Biletnikoff Award and Hornung Award, and is coming of an all-Pac-12 season in 2017.
He played his high school football at Chandler High School and decided to stay local for his college career, despite a regime change with new head coach Herm Edwards in his first season at ASU.
“Herm made it really easy for me, especially because he was my coach at the Under Armour game (in 2016) so it really was like we just picked back up,” Harry said.
The Sun Devils were selected to finish this season at the bottom of the conference standings by the Pac-12 media, but it hasn’t stopped Harry from focusing on team success.
“I’m not worried about to many distractions. I’m just worried about getting to that Pac-12 Championship Game,” Harry said.
The Sun Devils’ training camp starts on Aug. 2 and their first game is Sept. 1 against University of Texas-San Antonio.
