Four Arizona Diamondbacks players are hosting — and participating in — a fantasy football league that will invite fans to join for a generous cause.
Nick Ahmed, Archie Bradley, A.J. Pollock and Steven Souza Jr. will meet and greet fans before drafting fantasy teams during the Big League Impact event at Chase Field. Fans who buy into the league will play fantasy football with the foursome through the 2018 NFL season, and all proceeds will go toward select charities.
Fans who pay at donation levels of $1,000 (owner), $1,500 (owner and co-owner) or $12,000 (11 seats and four co-owners) can join the D-backs Aug. 25 at 8:30 a.m. and take a behind-the-scenes tour before going through a live draft in a suite.
Attendees will check out the D-backs clubhouse, tour the batting cages, weight room and video room, then draft, Ahmed told Doug & Wolf on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station. They will then take in Arizona’s 5:10 p.m. game against the Seattle Mariners that Saturday.
Proceeds will benefit the Big League Impact Global Initiative, which was created by St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright. They will also go toward Striking out Poverty, Consider the Lily and the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation. Striking out poverty aims to create clean water projects in the Dominican Republic, while Consider the Lily is a program to prevent human trafficking.
Fans interested in joining the Diamondbacks players and other fans in the fantasy football league can visit BigLeagueImpact.org/Arizona to sign up for the event and learn more details.
