Preseason stats can be misleading and it is tough to accurately compare how well players are performing based on constant personnel rotations and differences in sample sizes.
But over a four year stretch of preseason performances, Arizona Cardinals defensive end Cap Capi has some of the most impressive stats in the NFL.
According to Pro Football Focus, Capi has produced 46 total quarterback pressures from the beginning of the 2015 preseason to week two of the 2018 preseason. In 2017, Capi’s 18 pressures were more than any defensive player in a single preseason dating back to 2013 when the site began collecting preseason data.
The Akron product has bounced from franchise to franchise including stints with the Jaguars, Ravens, Falcons, Giants and Bills before his latest opportunity with the Cardinals.
With defensive end Markus Golden still on the mend from a torn ACL injury last season, there is presumably room for another edge rusher on the Cardinals’ 53-man roster that Capi could fill.
Capi’s best performance this preseason came in week one against the Chargers when he recorded three sacks, including this one below on quarterback Geno Smith.
This is Capi’s second time through with the Cardinals organization. He was signed to the practice squad from Oct. 2016 through Sept. 2017.
He’s appeared in 8 regular season games in his career recording seven tackles, one sack and one forced fumble.
