The Phoenix Suns are still actively seeking out a point guard on the trade market, 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s John Gambadoro reports.

Among targets, the Suns have discussed the Los Angeles Clippers’ Patrick Beverley, Indiana’s Cory Joseph and the Nets’ Spencer Dinwiddie.

Beverley, 30, has one non-guaranteed year remaining on his deal at a little over $5 million. He averaged 12.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game for the Clippers last season but underwent microfracture and meniscus surgery on his knee in November. He was fully cleared in June.

The six-year veteran has a reputation as one of the best defensive point guards in the league, and can also shoot it, posting a 40.0 three-point percentage on 5.5 attempts per game last year.

After the Clippers matched an offer sheet on point guard Tyrone Wallace Wednesday, they now have 17 contracts on the roster and will need to cut that number down to 15.

Along with Wallace, the Clippers’ crowded backcourt includes Beverley, Avery Bradley, first-round picks Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jerome Robinson, Jawun Evans, Milos Teodosic, Sindarius Thornwell and Lou Williams.

Like Beverley, Joseph is also on an expiring contract but is more expensive at a $7.9 million salary this year. One of the best sixth men in the NBA, the 27-year-old Joseph averaged 7.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and assists per game for the Pacers last season.

The Pacers recently drafted former UCLA point guard Aaron Holiday in the first round of this year’s NBA Draft and are also bringing back starter Darren Collison at the position.

Dinwiddie, 25, is the cheapest expiring contract of the three players at $1.6 million. Starting 58 of his 80 games played last season, Dinwiddie averaged 12.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game for Brooklyn.

The Suns’ need for a point guard became a priority when they traded Brandon Knight to the Houston Rockets on Aug. 30. The point guards on the Suns’ roster are Isaiah Canaan, Shaquille Harrison, De’Anthony Melton and Elie Okobo.

Gambadoro reported the Suns have also previously discussed Portland’s Damian Lillard, Charlotte’s Kemba Walker and Boston’s Terry Rozier.
