Arizona State Sun Devils head coach Herm Edwards was focused like a hawk on the team’s road game against Washington on Saturday.
That doesn’t mean he didn’t catch a glimpse of Chase Lucas pumping some iron following his interception, however.
“I was like ‘what is this?'” Edwards said Monday when asked about the new turnover celebration. “How did he even bring that on the plane? I didn’t get that one. I’m so busy doing other stuff that I saw that. I was like ‘what are we doing here?’ I have to ask the weight coach about that one.
“I know Miami has the chain deal and some other teams do some other things. That was a new one. I don’t know.”
On the very first play of Saturday’s game, the Huskies attempted a trick play in which quarterback Jake Browning threw a backward pass and then wide receiver Andre Baccellia threw it downfield.
ASU read the play.
Cornerback Chase Lucas intercepted it and took the ball 19 yards to the 20-yard line.
That was cute. 😏
UW tries to open the game with some trickeration and Chase Lucas sniffs it out the whole way for the PICK!!!

One play into the game, ASU had possession and a takeaway from a sound Washington offense.
After struggling last year defensively, The new-look unit has certainly made strides.
One might say it’s made gains.
Turnover chains?
