Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson broke his silence regarding reports that he wanted out of Arizona.

Peterson posted a statement on Twitter Wednesday expressing on social media that his focus is on “being part of the solution” and wants to help the Cardinals win.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who first reported that Peterson asked for a trade, reported that the All-Pro cornerback met with Cardinals president Michael Bidwill on Tuesday for 30 minutes.

The two reportedly discussed the Cardinals success and Peterson’s role as a leader.

“At the end of the day, he’s a competitor, he loves to compete,” CBS Sports analyst Byrant McFadden, Peterson’s cousin, told Doug & Wolf on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station on Tuesday.

McFadden reported that the New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots are pursuing a trade for Peterson. The Saints acquired cornerback Eli Apple from the Giants on Tuesday.

Bidwill reportedly assured 28-year-old Peterson that the team will start to win. Arizona is currently 1-6 coming off of a 45-10 blowout loss on Thursday night.
