USC freshman quarterback JT Daniels will miss the game against Arizona State football on Saturday, the Trojans announced.
In his place, third-string quarterback Jack Sears will get the start.
Daniels is in concussion protocol and second-string redshirt sophomore QB Matt Fink has three broken ribs, according to ESPN. Both players got injured against Utah on Saturday.
The Trojans are 4-3 this season behind Daniels, including a win over then-undefeated Colorado on Oct. 13.
Daniels has completed 56.9 percent of his passes for eight touchdowns and seven interceptions this season.
Sears, a redshirt freshman, has yet to attempt a pass in college. Over his junior and senior seasons at San Clemente High School (Calif.), he combined for 5,299 yards, 74 touchdowns and just eight interceptions while completing more than 68 percent of his passes.
ASU is trying to get back in the win column after losing four of its five last games.
Opposing quarterbacks average about 224 yards per game at a 61.8 percent clip against the Sun Devils this season.
