Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker had a lot to be exited about with his individual performance in the win over the San Francisco 49ers.
He was credited with five tackles, one-and-a-half tackles for loss and a half sack – which should have been credited as a full sack, according to Baker.
But what got the second-year safety most excited was the energy at State Farm Stadium sparked by quarterback Josh Rosen who led the team to victory despite trailing 15-3 early in the fourth quarter.
“Man it was exciting for the defensive players. Just watching him, a rookie quarterback driving down the field for the two touchdowns, it was great,” Baker told Burns & Gambo on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station.
A major reason for Rosen’s success in the fourth quarter was finding receiver Larry Fitzgerald for a season high eight catches and 102 receiving yards.
Fitzgerald had four catches in the decisive fourth quarter firing up the crowd with an emphatic spike following a 13-yard touchdown catch in a rare show of emotion from the typically reserved 15-year veteran.
“Anytime the crowd chants ‘Larry! Larry!’ the defensive guys are all saying the same thing on the sideline having a good time,” Baker said.
