Well, it ain’t Bagdad, Arizona.
For $1,000 under the category “The minor leagues,” Jeopardy! contestants were challenged Thursday night to name the city of the minor league hockey team in Arizona.
“Hockey is blooming in Arizona — an NHL team in Phoenix & since 2016, the AHL Roadrunners in this city,” said host Alex Trebek, only to be answered by silence.
"What is Tucson?"

None of the three contests, who we assume are very smart people, took a swing at guessing a hockey team might exist in the second-largest metropolitan area in the state. And if you’re somehow on this blog and don’t know, the correct response is “What is Tucson?” It’s the Roadrunners who debuted in 2016 as the Arizona Coyotes’ minor league team.
While we’re here, let’s get a little nitpicky with the Jeopardy! fact-finding folks.
Technically, the NHL squad isn’t in Phoenix. If you don’t believe that, just check the team’s Twitter bio.

Yes, the Arizona Coyotes were previously the Phoenix Coyotes, but they play in Glendale. That might have led to this imprecise question — but it’s an opportunity to remind the Jeopardy! question creators to be a little more careful either way.
Anyway, Arizonans can appreciate Trebek holding back his concern and disgust for these contestants.
