Whisenhunt: No controversy at quarterback

Nov 15, 2011, 1:37 AM | Updated: 2:40 am

During his weekly segment with Arizona Sports 620’s Doug and Wolf, Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt addressed the brewing controversy at the quarterback position.

“Right now, nothing has changed,” Whisenhunt said. “Until Kevin is cleared, until we can assess where he is physically, we’re going to continue as we are. So there is no controversy.”

The fact that Kolb is still injured is buying Whisenhunt time to put off any speculation that backup quarterback John Skelton may jump ahead of Kolb on the depth chart.

“Until we get to that point there is nothing really to comment about because Kevin hasn’t been cleared for practice,” Whisenhunt said.

Skelton has won both of his starts while playing for the injured Kolb, who is still recovering from a turf toe injury he suffered against the Baltimore Ravens in week eight.

“We’re happy with what we have in John. He’s still got a lot of work to do and obviously in order for us to become a really good football team we have to clean those things up, whether it’s with Kevin or whether it’s with John Skelton.”
