Fitzgerald named NFC Offensive Player of the Week

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald was named
the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 10.

Fitzgerald caught 7 passes for 146 yards and two
in the Cardinals’ 21-17 win over Philadelphia that snapped
the team’s 11-game road losing streak.

The biggest play in that win for Fitzgerald, however, was
37-yard, over-the-shoulder catch on a 3rd down and ten
in the fourth quarter that gave the Cardinals’ a first and
goal at the Philadelphia 1-yard line. Three plays later,
quarterback John Skelton found Early Doucet on a 5-yard
touchdown pass that provided Arizona’s winning margin.

Surprisingly, this is the first such honor for Fitzgerald,
who becomes the first Cardinals’ receiver to win the
award since Roy Green won it for his performance against
Giants on November 13, 1988.

With his second touchdown catch on Sunday, Fitzgerald also
eclipsed the franchise record for career touchdowns
previously held by Green. Fitzgerald now has 70
in his career.
