As he works his way up the ranks of the minor leagues, Arizona Diamondbacks prospect Jazz Chisholm put together an impressive stretch of games during the 2018 Arizona Fall League.

Along with a multitude of top prospects from around the world, Chisholm landed with the Salt River Rafters for his short time in this year’s AFL. Salt River finished as the runner-up for the Fall League title after losing 3-2 to the Peoria Javelinas in the championship game.

In a culmination of his hard work, Chisholm was named to the MLB’s Top 10 breakout prospects of the Arizona Fall League for his excellent hitting and defense at the shortstop position.

Through 10 games, Chisholm totaled 10 putouts and 24 assists with five double-plays. His defensive instincts shined as he posted a 94.4 percent fielding percentage.

For as effective he was as a fielder, the 20-year-old was equally as impressive as a batter. Chisholm finished his AFL stint with 19 hits on a slash line of .442/.489/.767 en route to three home runs, three doubles and a triple.

As he accumulates notoriety across the minor leagues, Chisholm is increasing his probability of joining the majors sooner rather than later. After failing to make the playoffs and kicking off the offseason by distributing qualifying offers to center fielder A. J. Pollock and pitcher Patrick Corbin, Arizona is in the midst of a transitional winter.

There’s no telling which direction general manager Mike Hazen will take his team but there’s a shot that Chisholm is a part of that future.
