After receiving Pac-12 Defensive Freshman of the Year honors last week, Arizona State linebacker Merlin Robertson also made USA Today’s Freshman All-America team.
Robertson is one of only three players on both sides in the Pac-12.
In 11 starts as a Sun Devil, Robertson recorded team highs in tackles (77), tackles for loss (8.5), and sacks (5.0).
The linebacker was named the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week after he recorded nine tackles, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble and one pass breakup against then-ranked No. 15 Michigan State in Week 2.
Robertson joins teammates in wide receiver N’Keal Harry, running back Eno Benjamin and center Cohl Cabral, who all received honors this season for the Sun Devils. Harry, who recently declared for the NFL Draft, and Benjamin both made the All-Pac-12 First Team. Cabral made the second All-Pac-12 team.
Robertson will look to finish out the season with the Sun Devils against No. 21 Fresno State (11-2) on Saturday for the Las Vegas Bowl.
