Surprise, Greta Rogers still isn’t a fan of Suns owner Robert Sarver

By now, you’re probably familiar with a 90-year-old woman by the name of Greta Rogers.
Rogers was one of the citizens who spoke on Wednesday before the Phoenix City Council’s vote on arena renovations for the Phoenix Suns, which has since been delayed.
On top of her disdain for the proposed deal, she most notably went at team owner Robert Sarver.
“Mr. Sarver has done nothing to improve this team in the 14 years he’s owned it,” Rogers said. “He’s never funded or bought — paid for — two or key three players, which make any professional sports team successful or on the road to success.”
Rogers joined KTAR News 92.3 FM’s Mac & Gaydos to discuss thoughts on the deal and Sarver himself.
“I don’t care how big or small somebody’s ego is — when they’re trying to screw the city I won’t stand for it,” she said Monday.
She also had words for Phoenix City Council member Sal DiCiccio.
“The guy is lazy, he’s manipulative and he lies,” she said.
With the criticism that constantly surrounds Sarver, Rogers has become a combination of a meme and folk hero for Suns fans.

Rogers compared the work done on the arena to janitorial services.
“Probably does need some structural maintenance or replacement or whatever,” she said.
The Suns are 2-0 since Greta’s rant when viral, their first winning streak in nearly a year. Perhaps she was the spark the Suns needed since a franchise-worst 4-24 start.
