With Black Monday for NFL coaches just eight days away, at least one Arizona Cardinals player doesn’t want head coach Steve Wilks name to be on the list of coaches fired at the end of the season.

Larry Fitzgerald expressed his support for the first-year head coach, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, despite the team’s 3-11 record.

“We all would want him back,” Fitzgerald texted to NFL.com.

Fitzgerald’s status for 2019 is also up in the air. The 35-year-old receiver signed a one-year deal with the Cardinals last season for $11 million.

The receiver, however, might not get what he wants.

ESPN.com’s Adam Schefter reported later in the day on Sunday that the team plans to part ways with the embattled head coach at the end of the season.

According to the report, the number of coaches fired this season has the potential to match the 2013 season when there were eight coaching changes.

In 2009, an NFL-record 11 head coaches were fired.
