Royals first-round pick Brady Singer pays off parents’ debt for Christmas

Dec 26, 2018, 9:13 PM | Updated: 9:35 pm

While most 22 year-olds are coming home for the holidays in anticipation of receiving gifts from their parents, Brady Singer came home to give a gift to his parents that most will never be able to give their parents, especially at 22 years old.

The right-handed pitcher from the University of Florida paid off his parents’ loan from the bank and all of their debt.

“I just want to say thank you for everything you’ve done to help me reach my hopes and dreams,” Singer wrote.

“I am paying off the loan from the bank. Also, I paid off all your debt as well.”

Singer’s mom’s reaction exemplifies her astonishment in one word, “What?!”

In 2017, Florida won the College World Series, as Singer struck out 12 in the Gators’ 4-3 win in game 1 of the finals.

The following year, Singer won the Dick Howser Trophy for the national best college player of the year.

Singer was drafted with the No. 18 overall pick by the Kansas City Royals in this year’s MLB Draft and signed a contract worth $4.25 million.
