Larry Fitzgerald’s decision to return to the Arizona Cardinals next season remains on hold.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed Saturday that in a text message exchange with the receiver, Fitzgerald said he planned to “take some time to collect his thoughts” before deciding on if he will return for a 16th season in Arizona.
Schefter said that the decision to hire Kliff Kingsbury as the Cardinals new head coach did not sway Fitzgerald one way or another.
Fitzgerald led the Cardinals in receiving for the fourth year in a row last season with 69 catches for 734 yards and 6 touchdowns.
He also started all 16 games for Arizona for the fourth year in a row.
Fitzgerald ranks second all-time in receiving yards with 16,279, tied for sixth all time in receiving touchdowns with 116 and third all time in receptions with 1,303.
He would need 23 more catches to pass Tony Gonzalez who has 1,325 career receptions.
