Arizona State and Arizona will tip off for the first of two regular season matchups to end January on Thursday, but Arizona could be without starting center Chase Jeter.

Jeter injured his back coming down hard on his back after going up for a rebound against Oregon State on Jan. 19 and hasn’t played since.

Although, according to the Arizona Daily Star, Jeter was able to lightly jog and shoot jumpers in warm ups, he missed the next two games for the Wildcats, both blowout losses by more than 20 points to UCLA and USC.

In his place, coach Sean Miller went with guard Dylan Smith against USC and forward Ira Lee against UCLA, neither could exactly fill the void.

Without Jeter, the team’s leading rebounder and team leader in field goal percentage, Arizona was out-rebounded 98-69 and shot a combined 31 percent in the two games in southern California.

Arizona State has five players who saw playing time in their last two games that are listed at 6-foot-8 or taller.

Arizona only lists two players on their roster taller than 6-foot-8, forward Ryan Luther and Jeter.

The game can be heard on ESPN 620 AM starting at 6 p.m.
