Arizona Coyotes defenseman Alex Goligoski left the game against the Dallas Stars following a hit by Brett Richie that led to a game misconduct penalty late in the second period.
Both players skated toward a puck on the boards in the Coyotes zone leading to Richie’s hit, which sent Goligoski flying into boards and caused a boarding penalty and the game misconduct on Richie.

Richie’s hit on the Coyotes’ defensman, who spent six seasons with the Stars, kept Goligoski down on the ice as blood trickled from his face. He was helped to the locker room by the Coyotes’ trainers.
The Coyotes have been hit with a barrage of injuries this season with multiple contributors still on injured reserve, including Christian Dvorak, Jason Demers, Antti Raanta, Michael Grabner, Nick Schmaltz and Brad Richardson.
Goligoski’s next chance to play will be on Tuesday as the Coyotes road trip concludes in Nashville against the Predators.
The Coyotes face Dallas again on Feb. 9 in Glendale.
