The Arizona Coyotes on Wednesday announced that goaltender Adin Hill and defenseman Dakota Mermis were reassigned to the AHL Tucson Roadrunners.

Both players were recalled on Tuesday as players at their same positions on the NHL roster weren’t able to play. Goaltender Darcy Kuemper, who would’ve otherwise been the backup for Calvin Pickard in the loss to Nashville, didn’t dress as he had an upper-body injury. Defenseman Kevin Connauton missed the game with a lower-body injury.

Kuemper and Connauton were both described as day-to-day. Hill’s reassignment to Tucson could be a good sign for how Kuemper is doing.

Neither Mermis nor Hill played on Tuesday.

Kuemper has been starting this season since Antti Raanta has been injured and is 6-1-3 in the month of January. He owns a .911 save percentage and 2.73 goals against average this season.

When the Coyotes recalled Hill and Mermis on Tuesday, they also sent down forward Michael Bunting. Bunting was not called back up on Wednesday when Mermis and Hill were sent down.
