Let’s get one thing straight from the jump here: Arizona State head coach Bobby Hurley has earned his fair share of technical fouls.
With his tendency to outright scream at officials for an extended period of time, it was not surprising to see him pick one up in the Sun Devils’ first game of the NCAA Tournament on Wednesday against St. John’s.
Until we found out what happened. Then it definitely was surprising.
After a foul call on ASU big man Romello White late in the first half, Hurley was seen looking towards the referees asking, “What did he do?”
Hurley was given a technical foul and then was even more confused than he was when trying to discover what White did.
St. John’s Shamorie Ponds hit both technical foul free throws to put a dent in the Sun Devils’ halftime lead to 13.
At halftime, Hurley was interviewed and still seemed rather upset.
