ASU hockey makes first NCAA Tournament in program history

The Arizona State men’s hockey team is dancing for the first time.
The Sun Devils on Sunday were selected as one of 16 representatives for the 2019 NCAA Division I Men’s Hockey Tournament, their first selection in the program’s four-year history.
ASU is slotted as the No. 3 seed in the Midwest Regional and will face No. 2 Quinnipiac in the opening round next Saturday at 4:30 p.m in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
The Sun Devils finished the regular season 21-12-1, their first winning season and 20-win season in program history.

ASU is the first independent to earn an at-large bid in the NCAA Tournament in 27 years.
Men’s ice hockey became a sanctioned NCAA sport at ASU for the 2015-16 season.
