The Los Angeles Dodgers took vengeance Thursday for their two World Series defeats.

They blasted eight home runs off the Arizona Diamondbacks, setting an Opening Day record and taking down the D-backs 12-5.

Starter Zack Greinke gave up four home runs in 3.2 innings. Trailing 3-0 entering the third inning, he gave up back-to-back home runs to Enrique Hernandez and Austin Barnes, retired a pair, and then gave up another to Corey Seager.

He was then taken out of the game for Matt Koch.

Koch got through the fifth inning 1-2-3 but gave up a two-run home run to Joc Pederson in the sixth inning, Pederson’s second home run of the game. The Dodgers took a 9-1 lead.

In the bottom of the seventh, he gave up a home run to Max Muncy and then back-to-back dingers to Cody Bellinger and Hernandez.

The four home runs Koch allowed was the most ever by a D-backs relief pitcher.

Arizona did show some power of their own. Adam Jones hit his first home run in a D-backs uniform and Christian Walker flexed his muscles with one of his own.

The team scored three in the ninth, but it wasn’t nearly enough to dig themselves out of the hole.

Fans had plenty to say on Twitter about the record eight home runs by the Dodgers and 10 total in the game.
