Phoenix Rising’s A.J. Cochran named to USL Team of the Week
Phoenix Rising FC defender A.J. Cochran was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for his performance in a 2-0 win against El Paso Locomotive FC on Saturday.
Cochran had eight recoveries and four interceptions while winning five of seven duels. He also added an assist as his longball to Junior Flemmings coincided with El Paso’s goalkeeper slipping out of net, leaving the goal defenseless.
Cochran joins Solomon Asante as Phoenix Rising players who have earned team of the week honors this season. Asante was honored in Week 2.
Flemmings (Week 1) and Jon Bakero (Week 4) have also been honorably mentioned as USL Championship weekly standouts.
Phoenix Rising’s next match is Wednesday in Austin, Texas.
The team will face Austin Bold FC at 5:30 p.m. in a game that will air on The CW with a broadcast stream on ArizonaSports.com.
