After already being linked to trade talks leading into Friday morning, the Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins are reportedly closing in on a deal.

According to Pro Football Talk, the two sides are “close to a deal for QB Josh Rosen.”

In exchange for the QB, the Cardinals would receive the No. 48 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft, per Pro Football Talk.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo added there could be a “late-round kickback” from Arizona to Miami to get a deal done. According to Garafolo, the Dolphins believe pick No. 48 is “too tilted in Arizona’s favor.”

The Miami Herald’s Adam Beasley reported that if the Dolphins were to consider parting with their second-round pick, Miami would likely need a fourth rounder back from Arizona.

With the trade, the Cardinals would have two draft picks in the second round with the No. 33 overall pick and No. 48.

Overall, that would leave the Cardinals with either nine or 10 picks left to make before the end of Sunday unless they decide to consolidate those picks via trade and move up the draft board.

The Dolphins were one of two teams the Cardinals discussed a Rosen trade with over the last month, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, and Miami’s GM Chris Grier was asked about Rosen following the team’s selection of defensive tackle Christian Wilkins with the 13th pick. Grier told reporters Thursday night “we’re investigating all avenues” and “we’re looking at all options at every position.”

The speculation surrounding the trade between the two sides grew more early Friday morning when NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the Dolphins had been doing their work on Rosen for weeks when it was clear he was available.

Rosen was drafted No. 10 overall in 2018 by the Cardinals but struggled in his first season, posting a 3-11 record along with a 66.7 passer rating, which ranked 33rd in the NFL.

This year, the team decided to go with former Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, leaving Rosen’s future with the team in question.

Yet Rosen’s youth and low salary cap hit has led Arizona to wait patiently for a trade partner who can offer fair value in return.
