Former Arizona State Sun Devils quarterback Manny Wilkins is going to sign with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent, Wilkins said in a Twitter post.
In his five years at Arizona State, Wilkins posted a career 52 touchdown passes and 8,642 passing yards which rank sixth and fifth in school history, respectively.
He also finished with a career 63.2 completion percentage, second all-time in ASU history behind Taylor Kelly at 63.3 percent.
In his final season at Arizona State, the fifth-year senior threw for 3,025 passing yards (10th in single-season school history).
The dual-threat quarterback wasn’t expected to be drafted, as his size and deep ball accuracy were a concern for NFL scouts, according to The Draft Network.
“Wilkins slender stature and lack of experience as a full-field reader could work against him, but he caught the attention of NFL teams with a strong pro day workout showing off his arm talent and ability to throw from the pocket and on the move,” writes NFL Media analyst Lance Zierlein.
“Sure, he’s smallish, but the tools and demeanor are where they need to be in order to become a decent NFL backup.”
Wilkins will be joining the likes of DeShone Kizer and two-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers on the depth chart.
