The Pac-12 Conference announced Thursday a change in the football schedule that will move the Territorial Cup game between ASU and Arizona back one day.

The rivalry game, which is the final game of the 2019 regular season for each team as it always is, was originally scheduled to be played on Friday, Nov. 29. But because of considerations for TV viewership, the game date has been changed to Saturday, Nov. 30.

As Arizona State put it in a release, the change will “accommodate a request by the Pac-12 Conference television partners which would maximize the television exposure possibilities for the matchup.”

A time of the game has still not been announced. That will be chosen by the conference and its TV partners.

ASU will be seeking its third straight Territorial Cup victory and the sixth in eight years. In the 2018 rivalry matchup, which was in Tucson, the Sun Devils rallied to win 41-40. The 2019 game will be played in Tempe.

Another already-known quirk in this year’s Sun Devils schedule is the inclusion of two bye weeks, one on Oct. 5 and another on Nov. 2.
