The Phoenix Suns announced Saturday they have waived veteran center Earl Barron.

The seven-year NBA veteran was signed in late September ahead of the Suns’ training camp. He appeared in six of the Suns’ seven preseason games this month, averaging 3.7 points and 4.3 rebounds in 13.7 minutes.

Barron was in his second go-round with Phoenix. He appeared in 12 games, starting six, for the team in the 2010-11 season. The 7-footer last played a regular season game for the Washington Wizards and New York Knicks in the 2012-13 campaign.

The Suns’ roster now stands at 15 players. Alex Len’s return from a finger injury likely prompted Barron’s departure.

Phoenix finished its preseason slate with a 5-2 record after a 105-100 victory in Utah on Friday. The Suns open the season at home against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, Oct. 29.
