The Arizona State Sun Devils have the nation’s best junior college recruiting class, Sun Devil Source said Wednesday after Khalid Thomas announced his commitment to ASU.
Thomas, from the College of Southern Idaho, joins No. 5-ranked junior college prospect Alonzo Verge Jr. as part of ASU basketball’s incoming recruiting class.
The 6-foot-9 power forward was considered a three-star prospect and was choosing between ASU and Oregon.
“It’s been a long journey for me,” Thomas said in the video. “I’ve played the game ever since I could hold a ball in my hands. My path hasn’t always been easy, but I stuck with it. I went to JuCo for two years, and with all the hard work I’ve put in, I became an All-American. Now, it’s time for me to take the next step. Next fall, I’ll be attending Arizona State University. Forks up.”
Thomas was committed to Texas Tech, but announced his decommitment from the school in May.
Sun Devil Source also said that ASU is the only D1 program with two of the top 10 junior college recruits committed and are the first school since 2013 with two of the country’s top five junior college recruits.
